My Opinion on Pixi’s Glow Tonic

Pixi tonerOn this occasion, I show you my review of the Pixi toner. After reading several positive comments about this cosmetic, I decided to give it a chance and add it to my facial care products.

Do you know what a toning lotion is? It is a liquid with a watery and very fluid texture that is mainly responsible for regulating pH, providing freshness and calmness, and preparing our face to receive subsequent treatments: serum, moisturizer, etc.

There are different types designed to solve a wide variety of problems.

For example, some help fight acne, excess sebum, the appearance of shine…, others, on the other hand, are intended to provide more nutrition, fight the signs of aging, eliminate pigmentation spots, as well as other functions.

Below, I show you my experience with the version offered by Pixi. Also, I advise you to read until the end of the article, as I reveal another alternative that might interest you. Let’s get started!

Why use a facial toner

First of all, I show you the reasons why you should add a toning lotion to your daily skincare routine:

  • It helps to restore the skin’s pH.
  • Provides greater balance in the dermis.
  • Closes the pores to provide a better appearance.
  • Rejuvenates and revitalizes the tissues.
  • Increases blood flow to the area.
  • Refreshes and hydrates.

What are the best options? Here is my selection. And if your skin is oily, these are the best toners you can use.

Introduction of Pixi’s Glow Tonic

This brand presents its Pixi Glow facial toner as a treatment that promises to exfoliate the complexion while leaving a clearer, more even and luminous skin tone.

Its star ingredient is glycolic acid, which eliminates dead cells, unclogs pores, and gets rid of acne.

It mainly promises the following benefits:

  • Leaves the complexion smooth and free of imperfections.
  • Eliminates acne.
  • Gently exfoliates the face.
  • Leaves a more even tone.
  • Solves the lack of brightness.
  • Treats fine expression lines.

Ingredients

Its formula is hypoallergenic and is made through botanical extracts such as aloe vera and ginseng.

As I mentioned earlier, glycolic acid plays a primary role, as it is an AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) exfoliant that does not contain granules.

You may wonder how it manages to exfoliate the face having a liquid texture, right? Well, it does so chemically.

It also contains horse chestnut and witch hazel extract. The moisturizing function is carried out by fructose, glucose, sucrose, urea, and panthenol.

The negatives I see in its ingredients are that it contains dyes and artificial fragrance, so people who suffer from sensitivity have to be very cautious with its application.

On the other hand, we must not forget that glycolic acid is still an acid, so it can be a bit aggressive.

However, the recommended percentage of this ingredient ranges between 15% and 20%, and the Pixi version offers 5%.

Below, I leave you its INCI so that you can assess its formula yourself:

Water/aqua, aloe barbadensis leaf juice, glycolic acid, butylene glycol, glycerin, sodium hydroxide, hamamelis virginiana (witch hazel) leaf extract, aesculus hippocastanum (horse chestnut) seed extract, hexylene glycol, fructose, glucose, sucrose, urea, dextrin, alanine, glutamic acid, aspartic acid, hexyl nicotinate, panax ginseng root extract, ethylhexylglycerin, disodium EDTA, biotin, panthenol, PPG-26-Buleth-26, PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil, phenoxyethanol, fragrance (parfum), caramel, red 4 (CI 14700).

Texture and scent

The texture is very fluid, light, and water-based like any other toning lotion.

The best part is that it is absorbed very quickly, so you won’t have to wait long for it to dry before proceeding with the application of your other beauty products.

Regarding the scent, as soon as you pour the liquid, you can perceive a fragrance that is too strong. This is not surprising since it contains artificial perfume. Honestly, in my case, I prefer those cosmetics that barely provide any scent.

Don’t miss: Rosewater toner, benefits, and how to make one.

Packaging

Its packaging consists of a bottle with 250 ml of product. It has a simple and very practical dispenser that provides you with the necessary amount.

Its durability is quite good, as you do not need to apply much lotion.

Who is it for?

Mainly, it is recommended for people with oily or combination skin who suffer from acne.

It is not suitable for more mature faces or those that show signs of sensitivity. Although it does provide some hydration, if you have dryness issues, it is best to look for a more nutritious option.

How to apply it?

First of all, I must say that it should only be applied once a day. Some women thought it was not exfoliating enough and exceeded the amount.

This can cause some problems. Don’t think it’s a weak cosmetic.

I also do not recommend its use during the day or in summer, as it can generate spots on the skin.

To use it, perform the following steps:

  1. Clean and correctly remove makeup from the face to leave it free of impurities.
  2. Pour the liquid onto a cotton pad and pass it with light taps over the face, neck, and décolleté. Do not apply pressure.
  3. Avoid the eye contour area, as it is a very sensitive part.
  4. You can also pour the product onto the palms of your hands and apply it directly to the indicated areas.
  5. Wait for it to dry completely before proceeding with the moisturizer and other treatments.

My opinion of Pixi’s Glow Tonic

Do you want to know if this cosmetic really worked for me? The truth is that I can assure that with its continuous use for several weeks I managed to get rid of the annoying pimples and the appearance of shine and sebum on the skin.

The pores also became more closed, so it provided me with an overall better appearance.

However, not everything was positive, since after a while I noticed that my complexion had become quite dry and lacked hydration.

I think it is a good option to get rid of acne, but you have to be very careful if your complexion is also sensitive or prone to irritation.

The best aspects that I highlight of this cosmetic are the following:

  • Effectively combats acne.
  • Provides a gentle effect.
  • Closes the pores.
  • Eliminates shine and excess sebum.
  • Adds luminosity.
  • Has good durability.
  • Is absorbed quickly.

Its main drawbacks

  • Cannot be used during the day, as it can generate spots.
  • It is a quite strong product, therefore not suitable for sensitive skins.
  • Does not hydrate.
  • Provides tightness and dryness after continuous use.
  • Contains artificial fragrance and dye.
  • Its price is not very economical.

Another alternative

If you do not dare with the Pixi lotion, I recommend another alternative that has provided me with great results.

It is the micellar water from Nezeni Cosmetics. Although it may seem strange, this cleanser is so complete that it can also be used as a facial toner.

The best part is that its formula is made with totally natural ingredients and is low in preservatives, so it does not pose any risk.

It contains aloe, apple, ginger, and oat extract. Its functions are: to clean, tone, hydrate, and revitalize.

Also, it is suitable for all skin types. It can be used by people with acne, sensitivity, expression lines, dryness, etc.

In my opinion, it seems to be a very safe bet.

Conclusion

This has been my review of the Pixi toner. I hope I have helped you to make a decision.

Remember that it is only suitable for young skin suffering from acne or excess sebum. It should never be used in people with dryness or an extremely sensitive face.

I have also tried: My own homemade version, Clinique’s, Mercadona’s or Garnier’s.

If you want a safer option and adapted to any user, I recommend the micellar water from Nezeni Cosmetics. Additionally, with this lotion, you will have two products in one.
