Mercadona’s Aloe Vera Gel: My Experience

Are you thinking about buying the Mercadona aloe vera gel, but can’t decide? Well, you are about to get all your doubts cleared. In this review, I talk about this product and share my opinion.

Aloe vera is one of the most valued ingredients in cosmetics and it’s no surprise. It has many beneficial properties for skin care as well as for the body because it’s not only applied topically, it’s also consumed.

I have sensitive skin with dermatitis, so it has become one of my staples for moisturizing and soothing irritation, itching, or flaking, which are the most common symptoms of atopic skin.

While browsing the cosmetics section at Mercadona, I discovered their aloe vera gel and, considering its price, I decided to give it a try. Do you want to know what my experience was? I’ll tell you here.

Mercadona Aloe Vera Gel: What is it and what is it for?

As you can read on the front of the product, the Deliplus aloe vera gel moisturizes, soothes, and repairs all skin types. Moreover, it is a moisturizing gel with a non-greasy texture and quick absorption.

Apart from regenerating the skin, this product is especially recommended for treating irritations, chafing, bites and can also be used after shaving or waxing.

What ingredients does it contain? (Formula and INCI)

In addition to aloe vera extract, its formula contains glycerin, castor oil, bisabolol, allantoin, and chamomile extract.

At first glance, the ingredients seem very natural, but if you take a look at the INCI, you’ll find out that not everything is as natural as Mercadona wants us to believe.

Below I show it to you so you can see the rest of the ingredients and the concentrations they are present in.

They are ordered from highest to lowest concentration; that is, those at the top are more concentrated.

This way, you can see if the formula is as natural and has as much aloe vera as claimed, but I will tell you more about my opinion later on.

Further down, I’ll tell you in more detail what I thought of this formula. Although I can tell you now that I am not at all happy.

What skin type is it suitable for?

As I mentioned earlier, the Mercadona aloe vera gel is suitable for all skin types, but it has been especially developed to soothe and relieve the signs of dryness and sensitivity such as itching, redness, or flaking.

Moreover, you can also use it when you notice that your skin is more dehydrated and dry than usual, for example, in the winter or summer months when the cold and heat ravage the dermis.

How do you apply it?

It is recommended to apply the gel to the affected areas. You can use it as many times as you need. In my case, I have used it when I felt my skin was drier or after waxing when it is more irritated.

I have also used it on my face, especially when I get eczema, for example, on the sides of my nose during atopic dermatitis outbreaks.

Packaging

The packaging is one of the things I like the most. It is very practical and convenient and allows you to dispense just the right amount of product, no more, no less.

Moreover, it well preserves the formula and prevents the ingredients from losing their properties. And it is very hygienic.

Besides, it contains 390 ml and lasts a long time, especially if you use it only on certain specific areas.

Texture and fragrance

Its texture is very light. It applies and spreads easily and absorbs very well. It doesn’t leave a greasy or sticky feeling; on the contrary, the skin feels soft, fresh, and moisturized.

Also, the fragrance is quite light and not unpleasant or overpowering, something I value a lot because I don’t like strong smells.

Now that you know everything you need about this product, let’s get to what matters: Does it really work? Is it as natural as they make it out to be? Here, I give you my most sincere opinion.

My opinion

Truth be told, I expected more from this product. I saw it on the shelf and didn’t look at the ingredients, which was a mistake because although the brand boasts that the product is natural and has a high concentration of pure aloe vera, the truth is that it isn’t at all.

It moisturizes the skin because it mainly contains water and glycerin, but the amount of aloe vera is not the best, and it has too much alcohol.

Moreover, it’s not as natural as I would like. It contains some chemical or irritating substances that are not at all recommended for health or skin, such as alcohol, PEGs, methylisothiazolinone, sodium hydroxide, fragrance, colorants, or phenoxyethanol.

If you are looking for a simple moisturizer, it does the job, but if you want a cream made with 100% natural ingredients, I recommend opting for Nezeni Cosmetics aloe vera cream.
